I have the same problem/question as triswimbikerun. I have a new Yamaha RX-V773WABL receiver. It is called / referred to as an AV Receiver. To me that's "audio"/"visual". It is network compatible. The advertising definately "suggests" it will stream video or photos, or at least deceptively eludes to it. It touts 3D, 4K pass through, DLNA compatible, AIRPLAY compatability with ipad, etc. It is network compatible. But I can't display my Windows Media photos (jpg) or videos (any format) on the TV screen.
The unit connects to my network, displays onscreen option selections for 'MUSIC", "PHOTOS", "PLAYLISTS", etc, and can see all files in the Windows 7 media server folders on the TV Screen. You can select / browse the folders and all music titles are displayed in white characters. However, all photos and video names are displayed " _gosted_ out", or displayed in grey. When you highlight them and press enter, NOTHING happens. No error message, no nothing.
What gives?? Does this thing NOT support "digital media" like the advertising / manual indicates???
Everything else about this unit is Fantastic! LG TV & LG BluRay connect beautifully via HDMI, with optical digital audio from TV fed back to receiver plays TV sound through 7.1 stereo speakers. All audio to Zone 2 (Deck) can be switched on or off independent of the other speakers or connected in 7.1 config with the party mode. Yahama Remote easily programed to control basic TV and BluRay functions. It's great, and sounds awsome.
But this video / jpg file thing is getting annoying.
Does anyone out there have an answer?
