Has anyone compared the Pioneer Elite SC-55 to the recently released SC-65?

I'm upgrading the equipment in my living room (approx room size 32 ft x 15 ft). I just bought an Epson HD 6010 front projector and have a DirecTV HD DVR with a network connection. I'm leaning towards buying an Oppo BDP-93 Blu ray player. I'm planning to use a 7.1 set up with the option of a second zone. I've compared the spec sheets of the SC-55 and SC-65, but don't really know if the following differences are significant or if there is anything else I should be concerned about:

SC-55 SC-65
Power per channel 140 x 9 130 x 9
USB Formats MP3, WMA, iPod, WAV, Same, except no FLAC or JPEG
FLAC, JPEG
DAC 24 bit 32 bit
Phase Control Full Band Auto
Stream Direct Direct/Pure Direct Direct
PQLS Jitter Reduction HDMI Bitstream / Multi HDMI Bitstream
HDMI In / Out 7 in / 2 out 7 in / 1 out
Component Video In / Out 3 in / 1 out 2 in / 1 out
Analog Audio In / Out 2 in / 0 out 1 in / 0 out
Digital In / Out 5 in / 1 out 4 in / 1 out

Note all other technical specs listed on the vendor's website seemed to be the same, including Pre-amp outputs.
I have compared the SC-55 against the Denon 3312 in a demo room and preferred the depth of sound on the Pioneer.
I can't find anyone with the SC-55 and SC-65 side by side in a demo room, nor any online reviews comparing them.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

The 65/68 models aren't quite available yet smile.gif
Not expected to hit the US until July according to Pioneer's Chris Walker. I'd stay in touch with your dealers in case they arrive earlier.

If you can hold-off making your buy until then, I think it'll be worth your wait, especially if you are a big computer audio user. The 68 will have a 32 bit USB DAC (a first for receivers).

Hi.

I´m on the road to change my Onkyo to one of the sc-61/63/65
I have a lot of problem with my Onkyo today and unfortunate even with the new one i have in exchange. So i give it up. The Onkyo sounds great and dose so even i 2 channel

Is there anybody who has gone from Onkyo to upper pio and can tell if there is a big different in 2 channel listening? My question is fore I use the receiver a lot even for 2.1

Regards

Re the onkyo. I just picked up an Onkyo 3009 avr. It's more powerful, & more slam, but I prefer the sound quality of my previous Pioneer 1121 receiver. Half the cost; & just sounds more open & airy. That's been my impressions with most pioneer avrs.

Probably sending the Onkyo back. The new Pioneer lineup interests me.

I Think the DAC on both is 32 BIT
