Hi, new member here with a TX-NR616 that seems to have expired.
It was bought new in December, 2012, and used lightly. A few months ago some of the audio stopped working. We found out about the DSP issue and that Onkyo would fix it, which they did - it came back with the DSP tagged "REPLACED".
Then about a month ago, what I assume is the center channel of the surround dropped out. I tried various things (factory reset) to see if we'd messed up the configuration, no luck. No response on the web interface, I hit the "NET" button and was rewarded with a series of bangs and flashes from inside the unit, then silence and smoke.
Does anyone have any advice for dealing with Onkyo? It sounds like they don't warranty their repairs, won't do the DSP fix twice, and it's out of warranty so exploding parts wouldn't be covered.
I'd love any advice before I talk to Onkyo. We've switched back to the cheapish 1980's Sanyo that the Onkyo replaced, which has never given a hint of trouble. I hate to think that spending all that money on the Onkyo means that we got a disposable stereo that's not expected to last 5 years.
Thanks in advance!
