Just had a fault condition on channel 1 after shutting down my HT system this morning.
I'm no longer using that channel either so I can rule out a bad speaker connection. Damn!

Gonna call Emotiva later.

So nothing connected on the input to Channel 1?

No fault conditions lately. Emotiva said it was nothing to be alarmed about, unless it happens repeatedly. Perhaps it was static electricity from the dry weather conditions during the Winter. I also noticed this past week as I was installing all new speaker wire that the binding post is loose on that same channel. I never paid attention since I've always used banana plugs until now. Not sure if there is a correlation between the two issues since I wasn't using that channel when the fault occurred. I have two free channels on the XPR-5 anyway as an ATI 6002 is now powering my mains.
On a side note, I have swapped my old rack for a Mid Atlantic Slim 5. I don't have as much head room for the XPR-5 on the new rack as I did on the old one so I put some 12 volt triggered cooling fans on top of the amp. I can run the system all day and it doesn't get too warm whereas it used to get pretty hot without just being powered on without much use. Is a cooling fan a good idea in the long run?

In my modest opinion there is nothing wrong in cooling electronic gear by fresh air.

+1. Especially for equipment in a closet... I have usually added some sort of air inlet and return when sticking equipment in an enclosed space. Sometimes just a ceiling vent and louvers on the doors with fans in the rack. Make sure the fans draw cool air from the bottom and sides and blow out the top, don't have them blowing down into the amp.

IMO - Don
