In the users manual page 91 it states that "it is not possible to play the digital audio output from HDMI, Optical or Coaxial signals connections in Zone 2. Play using analog connections in stereo." Does this mean I must run separate red/white cables from my Bell Satellite Box and Blue Ray to the AVR in order to play music in Zone 2?

Yes, that's exactly what it means. You may need to configure those devices to downmix multichannel audio to stereo for the analog outputs (more likely for the BD player than for the STB). This shouldnt affect multichannel being sent out via HDMI.

If you think your AVR is defective, refer to the Owner's manual and reset the microprocessor a few times in a row.
