I recently upgraded from 1610 to 2312CI. There was an option in 1610 to switch to standard audio mode where it automatically switched to corresponding mode as the input audio signal. Though in 2312CI I can manually choose which mode I want to play in but I have to first look at the type of input signal (by looking at the front display panel and choose the correspondign mode). In 1610 their was a 'Standard' button where it switched to the corresponding mode automatically e.g. for DTS input it switched to DTS mode(and I couldn't change to PLII etc even if i pressed on it...which was good)

Hope I clarified what i am looking for smile.gif

The 2312CI works in the same way as does the 1610, the only difference is the "STANDARD" button has been split into 3 buttons on the 2312CI "Movie", "Music" and "Game".

For more information on the 2312CI, join us in the dedicated Denon AVR-XX12 Owner's thread linked in my sig, reviewing posts #3-6 for additional setup/troubleshooting information.

Are you saying that in 2312 even for DTS/Dolby5.1 they have given these movie/music(added) modes. In 1610 they had similar modes(movie/music) for PLII but if the input signal was pure DTS or DB 5.1 it just switched to that mode and you couldn't flavor it with movie/music etc. and thats exactly what i am looking for i.e. i don't want any alteration to the original signal. Hope it makes sense. .

PS: BTW I am not talking about Direct/Pure Direct modes which i know is a complete bypass.

Yes, the 1610 and 2312CI are both the same in this respect. If you select "Dolby PLII - Cinema" the AVR will simulate 5.1 from 2.0 audio and will play the DD or DTS 5.1 as is as there is nothing to simulate.
