Thanks, guys. My project this week is to climb to the top of our audio cabinet and check the connections on all the equipment. Our 100+ pound Bryston 6BSST amp shook way out on the 200 pound capacity retractable shelf holding it and was within a couple of inches of falling eight feet to the floor. All the amps are biwired with heavy-duty pro banana plugs and spade lugs, so it will be interesting to see if the connectors on the cables and on the amp pulled out or were damaged. One of the five-foot tall tempered glass doors on the cabinet shattered.

Toodle pip,

RJ

I recently found out that in September of 2014, the price of the Bryston SP3 has increased $400.00. Glad I purchased mine early.

I have recently ordered the Bryston BDP-2 after having read a review of it from an accomplished audiophile who loves vinyl who opined that the BDP-2 sounds better than a Class A ranked turntable. Does this seem plausible?

I think the better way to word it is that "he likes the sound of the BDP-2 more than the sound coming from a Class A ranked turntable."

Better is in the ears of the beholder so anything is "possible."

Personally, I have not heard a DAC which sounds better, to me, than my vinyl setup.

Well, just let us know what you think yourself. I'm pretty confident you will be pleased.

David, you are the one I most wanted to get feedback. I opted not to get the Bryston phono pre-amp for now, and instead decided to experiment with the Bryston digital audio player. This is not a D/A converter, but rather, a digital player. I'll see if I can find the review and post the link. And, you are right, "better is in the ear of the beholder."

David, I must correct my post. The reviewer stated the BDP-2 sounds the same as a Class A turntable, not better. But, this is quite impressive to me. Below is the review about 6 post down:

Either way, his perspective is subjective just like the rest of us. The only thing that matters is if you like it.

Personally, there are only 1 or 2 people whose opinions on sound mean anything to me and that's because we have spent tons of time together listening to the same music on the same system. Thus, I have a reference point. It isn't a personal thing. I just need to fully understand what someone else likes in order to make their opinion useful.
