Hey Everyone- I recently bought a Pioneer VSX-921-K Receiver. I was trying to set everything up and when I was testing out speakers, I turned the volume up and all of a sudden the receiver shut off. Now, I turn on the machine, it stays on for 5-10 seconds and then shuts off. Any idea what's going on/how to fix it? Thanks for the help.

Hi cohen1, double check all speaker connections (both ends) and run.

I dont have any speakers currently hooked up to it. Should I hook them all up and then run? Any ideas if I do that and it is still turning off on me?

No, if it's shutting down without speakers connected, then it could be amp failure. Disconnect any sources and see if the AVR still shuts down. If yes, then exchange for a new unit.

No, is this a new, open box or refurbished unit? Suggest a factory reset first but IMO get an exchange.

If still shutting down or not, get an exchange as this shouldn't be happening.

That happened to me when I had the receiver's HDMI setting to ARC=ON. I turned if off and all is well.

I had a pioneer 1014 that was doing this, it was a bad unit. My next one started doing it (after a few years) and it turned out to be some kind of auto protect that went wrong and needed to be disabled. If new, try a new one. Can you return? Asking because I would think that was the first thing you would do.
