i really like the denon 1912 over the onkyo 609 due to the better audyssey, but i like the onkyo 609s dual sub out. my room is about 13x16x8, but will have 2 short hallways connected to it. i just ordered the klipsch rw-12d for the sub. is there a denon receiver comparable to the denon 1912 with a 7.2 instead of the 7.1 that isnt a lot more money?

attach this to the sub out on the 1912. problem solved. Most 7.2 receivers just split the .1 signal to another subwoofer.

wow, its that easy?
i guess it makes sense. i was thinking you couldnt do that for ohm reasons, but the subs are powered on their own so i guess the receiver just sends the pre amplified signal? thanks

Correct. Until you get to the higher models that use Audyssey MultEQ XT32 w/Sub EQ HT (ie. 4311CI), dual sub pre-outs (ie. 2312CI and 3312CI) use nothing more than an internal "Y" splitter.

For more information on your 1912, join us in the Denon AVR-XX12 Owner's thread linked in my sig. Review posts 3-6 in that thread for additional helpful setup and troubleshooting information.

ok, so just to be clear, the audyssey that comes on the 1912 will still work properly to tune the subs and speakers even WITH a y splitter on the back?
thanks

just read the thread on the xx12, very helpful. sounds like the 2112 would be ideal for me, but seems to be sold out most places, so i will just order the 1912, see how one sub works for my room, then if it is inadequate ill get the splitter and 2nd sub later. thanks for the help.

Yes, as is the case with any version offered on Denon AVRs. Review the Audyssey Setup Guide linked in my sig for special circumstances regarding dual subs.

I would call around to all authorized resellers (to include AVS Sales) as the 2112CI is a much better buy than the 1912 as it offers a 3rd year of warranty and the higher version of Audyssey MultEQ XT.

I do not understand. Why is the 2112 any more "ideal" for you than the 1912? A least as far as the calibration of dual subs are concerned? Perhaps now the XT is the hook?

Limited availability on the 2112? :http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR2112CI-Integrated-Surround-Receiver/dp/B004Z0S7OM

with regard to single vs dual subs, there is not difference to me. i was referring to how the 2112 has combined the XT version of audyssey with some nice features like network connectivity, etc.

jdsmoothie,

thanks, i will check around at my local best buys and see what they have. another option is to get the 1712 with the XT audyssey but lose out on some pretty nice features that i would like to have, like a usb, airplay, pandora, network connectivity, etc. but then again, i can get lots of apps on my new tv. but these features would be nice on the receiver as well. ill look at bb for some 2112's, otherwise i will get a 1912. i would like the XT version of audyssey, but its not a complete deal breaker. im sure the multieq will be fine for me.

Agreed. With no prior experience with Audyssey, the MultEQ version in the 1912 will still perform quite well indeed. smile.gif

My point was that, as the 2112CI is generally offered at the same price or maybe $50 more in many cases, if you don't mind doing a little calling around to locate one of the few remaining 2112CI units, it would be worth the effort.
