Hello guys

I know that there is already many things on repairing daughter hdmi board for the brothers of NR906, but I could not yet found the detailled fix for my amp otherwise than replace... X... capacitors on the board (note I am an early buyer, it was build around mid-2008).

As my amp hdmi is slowly dying (now no hdmi out or only after 5-10 "reboot" sequences), I had to work on it.

So I got the service manual (will put all files later on) and got study the whole thing in details.

It appears the weak point is not the capacitors in itself (there are many of the same size), but the association of these capacitors with voltage regulators (the 3 pin plastic bodies located near each main chip to power it) and the global stress around (heat of the amp+heat of the board+heat of regulator+electrical stress(ripple) )

List of capacitors for NR906 voltage regulators that I found (daughter board name : NAHDM-9114) :
- C8675 is 100uF/4V, "hdmi 1 out"
- C8725 is 100uF/4V, "hdmi 2 out"
- C8602 is 100uF/4V, "hdmi RX" voltage AVCC18
- C8609 is 100uF/4V, "hdmi RX" voltage CVCC18
- C8843 is 100uF/4V, video decoding (analog to digital converter)(video inputs)
- C8918 is 47uF/16v, video encoding (digital to analog converter)(video output)

On my board I noticed that the voltage regulators for hdmi1 & 2 are the ones with some signs of heat (more than all others).

I will buy and change the 4 first tomorrow. Would be glad if somebody confirms I am in the right direction.

thanks

Changed all, no progress except that now I can get the setup on both hdmi outputs (but not all the time).

More capacitors, still no improvement.
I had a doubt on earthing issues between my stuff; added a ground connected to metallic part on all devices.

Replaced a lot of capacitors... now PROGRESS !
I can have the setup on screen, whatever the time, whatever conditions...

But still no hdmi passtrough working.

I imagine that because I can see setup, issue probably with hdmi receive part.
Will tell you.

Replaced almost all the capacitors over 4.7uF... no more progress.
Still have the 8 big capacitors for power.
We will see

I would also like to know if you ever made any more progress.

I've replaced all the 100uf capacitors on mine and my HDMI signals do sync up in 720p mode but when I go to setup, 99% of the time I get invalid format on my LG 42" plasma. On a Vizio 39" 1080p it says "not support" when I enter setup. I also have to set the zoom to wide and the output to 720p or I don't get any video. I realize this original post is over a year old but I'm hoping someone still checks it out every now and then.
