For any of you who are into the headphone world, I'm going to give a little bit of background of what I'm coming from. If not, skip the next line.

Current setup is PC (USB)>Musical Fidelity V-Link>Musical Fidelity V-DAC>Matrix M-Stage Amp> Sennheiser HD650

Do you think the novaPre would be a substantial upgrade for my HD650s? I would feed the novaPre with optical from my PC.

Okay, now that that's out of the way, I am first and foremost looking for a nice headphone amplifier, and the idea of Peacthree's hybrid tube design really intrigues me.

Further, I would like to use the novaPre as a future project: a nearfield listening setup for my computer. I would likely get Peachtree's 220 Power Amp to match, and I would probably get a set of B&W CM5s, or maybe CM1s.

In summary:
1) The novaPre: A good headphone amplifier?
2) Good option for a pre-amp for my computer?
