I'm looking for a good quality receiver to replace my Panasonic SA-XR55 which I will be selling to a friend along with my current HT setup. I'm planning on getting a Mitsu 3d DLP and replacing my Athena speakers with the Swope HT DIY seen here: https://sites.google.com/site/undefinition/swope-ht. What would you recommend in the $300 or less realm?

Your best bet is to pick up one of last year's models that are on clearance now at deeply discounted prices. Check out your local area Best Buy stores for some bargains. The Denon 1612 would be a consideration in your price range. Review the first few posts in the Denon XX12 Owner's thread linked in my sig to see a comparison of the various models.

** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.
