I have a question that I hope I can get some good info on.

In about a month or two I'm going to be upgrading my old 5.1 HTiB (Logitech Z5500) to a new set up, consisting of a pair of BIC Acoustech PL-89's, Pl-66 Surrounds, PL-28 Center, and PL-200 Sub.

I was going to try and get a refurbished Denon 1712 to go with the speakers but I don't know if I will be able to find one a couple of months from now. So I need some advice on a back-up receiver. My budget for a receiver is about $500 and that is about the maximum I am willing to pay.

Can any of you suggest a good or better receiver that has the same features as the 1712? I'm still a little new to this so I'm not sure which brands are good to go with as an alternative. Thanks

In my recent travels, I found a delivered AVR1713 for $400.00.

I had looked at the 1713 but from what I understand the XX13 is a 5.1 system while the XX12 is a 7.1. That is why I initially chose the XX12 as I would want the option to upgrade from a 5.1 to a 7.1 if I ever got some extra money.

Okay, the AVR1713 is off the choice list.
