Probably denon or Yamaha. With your needs they still support more legacy connections than onkyo does. If you're lucky, you might be able to score a denon 4311 or a Yamaha 1010,2010 with $1000. I don't know much about pioneer as I haven't done much research on them since they just started using class d amps. Many people like them though. Onkyo 818 might be worth a look, but make to see if it support all your connection needs.
You getting a plasma or LCD? I think smasung higher end plasmas support PIP now. My 51d8000 has it though I will probably never ever use it as I don't watch any tv or sports anymore. I am not sure if Panasonic does, but they make good plasmas too.
