hello
i read and i read tons of posts about Receivers
and there is just way to much for a noob as myself to understand
ok so i just bought a HD33 after a ton more reading to go with my home cinema and now i am to the point where the
RX V661 just doesnt have enough hdmi inputs
i actually ordered a 3 in 1 hdmi switch tonight

so i am debating on buying the RX-V673BL or the RX-A720BL among many other ones since these ones are around my budget of $600

ok so i am using some JBL 6100 set of speakers and find the receiver i have now lacking on power

so what should i do ?

buy a amp to help push the speakers?
would one of these receivers be much more capable of pushing them ?

and i alsp read about some of the steros that can be controlled by a iphone that would b cool and a plus

so in your guys oppinions is it worth it for me to upgrade

What is a HD33? Not familiar with that. Oh its an Optoma projector.

RX-V673 and A720 are pretty much the same receiver with the A720 about $100 more. Either one can stream music from iPhone, iPad or Android and there is also an app to control the receiver.

You get a one year extra warranty with the A720.

I don't know if there is a big difference in power from the 661 though. The 673 and A720 do not have 7.1 preouts to connect an external amp. The stop including those after the 667 receiver.

Doesn't look like your 661 can decode TrueHD or DTS-MA audio from blu ray but you may be able to send it from the player as multichannel PCM.

So would the 673 be a big upgrade ? worth spending the money on?
and should i try to find a external amp to run speakers cause it looks like this one and mine has the save watts ?

its an upgrade in features, not performance. Whether that's worth it to you I cannot answer.

If you feel you need more power then get an external amp.
