I have denon 2112 receiver my problem is i do not seem to get the surround sound audio effect on any music or movie that i listen to or watch. Is there a perticular setting that i should look at on my receiver ?.I have a 5.1 energy set-up.

Thank you

What is the surround audio source you're listening to and how is it connected to the AVR? What does the front panel of the AVR read? If you press the MOVIE button on the remote and select "Dolby PLII - Cinema" you should be good to go. smile.gif

Also note there's a dedicated thread for Denon AVR-XX12 Owners linked in my sig.

** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

Surround audio source is a sharp dvd player connected by component cable to the AVR.

Component cable would the video ... how is the audio connected ..... optical or analog (red/white)? Either way, simply select DD PLII - Cinema and it will take the stereo input and simulate 5.1.
