WOW! I had conversations and effects CLEARLY happening all round me, the helicopters flying across the room, behind me, to the sides of me and coming right at me Even the Mrs. was impressed LOL. I did also find the volume level to be much better now also, I had the same volume level at -18db last night than I had the previous nigh at -10db. Cranking it up to +2db was VERY loud now

@cesar123 give Mark a call at A4L and he'll answer any questions you have, my refurd 4520 looked like new and so far is working perfectly.

Depending on what surround setup / location of speakers you are using after audessey is ran will also determine which sound modes are avalible when pressing and holding the colored buttons.

I believe it's best to run audessey after your first position all within 2-3 feet from MLP. I found it helps to make sure the mic on a tripod is not too close to the seat backs and about level or just above the backs to handle the surrounds and reflections.

Most people after audessey runs sets all speakers to small and adjust crossover to their liking, normally 80hz.

...aaaand 4520 purchased.

Mark @ A4L was a pleasure to deal with.

Just need to hang on and survive with TV speakers until Wednesday. Time to start reading through this thread!

Excited to be part of the Audyssey family (nothing again YPAO really, but... meh )

Yippee-ki-yay...

I haven't explicitly tested the 4520 specifically, but based on experience with many Denon models it's safe to assume the LFE is re-routed to the FR/FL mains when SW = NO in the speaker config.

Do you have any test discs? If there is a 5.1 channel check then you can easily confirm for yourself just to put your mind at ease.

Just pulled the plug on 4520 at Amazon. It was toss up between amazon 3 year like new warranty (supposedly) or 1 year refurbished warranty at ac4l. It will replace Onkyo 809, hopeful that it is worthwhile upgrade. This seems like 1st step into audiophile world. Eyeing for RF-7ii to go with this.
I have open basement so hoping audyssey xt32 will help.
If anyone has comment or concern how this combo is going to perform, please let me know.
Any comment on what is latest from Denon about warranty. I confirmed with Amazon rep that Amazon warehouse purchase is considered as new similar to how bestbuy open box is new.

I just got some open box RF7ii's (Klipsch auth seller) off ebay and an Outlaw 7500 for great pricing. It is upgrade time!

The RF7ii's have been rumored to dip into 4 ohm territory when pushed, but people seem to say the 4520 makes them sing. I dont doubt it. You will be sounding good I think.

Congrats!

How "open" is your basement (total cubic footage)? How far will you be seated from the main speakers? What subwoofer?

There was someone who had also been told something about an Amazon Warehouse Deal 4520 being under warranty and when checking again with Amazon found he had no warranty. See post 10922 in this thread.

Congrats on your purchase... enjoy!

"Amazon warehouse purchase is considered as new" = I would think 3 Year Denon Warranty in effect as long as the receipt does not state "Refurbished"

"I have open Basement" = DUAL Subs

Total cubic feet may be 1500 sq ft with 9 ft height. I have L shaped basement with HT screen at bottom right of letter L so up to MLP, it is nice rectangle, behind MLP, it opens up.
MLP is around 12 ft away with 140" screen. I have HSU vtf5, so the sub seems sufficient, I have never turned the dial more than 1/4.
I will get exact dimension with layout later.

You sure about that? Why would Denon warranty something that was neither new or refurbished? From the warehouse deal faq:

Do products come with a warranty?
No. Used products generally do not come with a manufacturer's warranty but all of our items are backed by Amazon’s return policy. If you would like additional protection, you can purchase a warranty from Square Trade to cover certain items.

Irregardless of the price paid, if the receipt "does not" state "used" or "refurbished" AND if the product was purchased from a retailer that IS authorized and normally sells new product, who is to say that the product is not new? :confused

The place of service should only be concerned that A) said unit was purchased from an authorized dealer of which amazon is as far as the Denon website is concerned AND B) the receipt does not state "Used" or "Refurbished".

** DISCLAIMER: It might also depend on whether the receipt is a general Amazon receipt or if the receipt actually states "Amazon Warehouse" where that might possibly denote used!

With a general Amazon receipt and no indication of "used" or "refurbished" denoted, I can not imagine any issues with the service center!

But if you think your sub is sufficient, nevermind.

Yeah, not sure as I have never bought an Amazon warehouse deal to see if the receipt is different. As I posted a bit before, check the experience in post 10922. Could also be the original serial number has been recorded at Denon from the previous owner?

Here you go:

Purchases made from Amazon Warehouse Deals are actually considered refurbished and would only come with a 1 year warranty.

Alright, still not bad, but with taxes I could have gone with ac4l then

Invoice shows "Sold by: Warehouse Deals, Inc" so Denon may reject the claim.

I have chat saved from Amazon if issue arises down the road.

confirmed with Denon CS, Amazon warehouse is not authorized dealer. So much confusion, but have faith in Amazon if situation arises they will make it right.

Just curious, did your receipt specifically state "Amazon Warehouse" on it or is it just a general "Amazon" receipt?

Any other descriptors on the receipt indicating that it was not "NEW"?

Well, that settles it. With "Ware House Deals, Inc - Like New" on the receipt I can see how there would not be a 3 year warranty on the product!

Funny -- I have a written chat transcript saying that Amazon Warehouse deals have no warranty at all. There is the chat:

Ernest : Hi, my name is Ernest. How may I help you?

Skrill: Hi Ernest -- I have a warranty questions. On Amazon --
Electronic's Expo (an authorized Denon Dealer) is advertising a like new open
box X4000. They confirmed to me that the unit would come with the full 3-year
Denon warranty. I just want to be sure before I buy it. The invoice will say, sold
by "Electronics Expo" -- the order will just be fulfilled by Amazon. Can you
confirm the warranty will apply?

Ernest: The warranty will apply
Ernest: Yes it is a 3 year warranty

Skrill: Thank you -- now Amazon Warehouse also has like new units.
Will the warranty apply for those units? (BTW -- I have been told no already
once by Denon, but yes by Amazon).

Ernest: Amazon Warehouse does not carry a warranty

Skrill: In that case the invoice will say -- ok, thank you. That is clear.
I will buy the Electronic's Expo model. Thanks!

Ernest: Is there anything else I can help you with today?

Skrill: No -- thank you for providing clarity.

Invoice shows "Sold by: Warehouse Deals, Inc" so Denon may reject the claim.

I have chat saved from Amazon if issue arises down the road.
You also could have purchased an extended warranty for a refurb 4520 from A4L for only $99. That would have covered you for a total of five years. One year from the Denon refurb warranty and then four more years with the extended. This is what I purchased with my refurb from A4L last Summer. But my extended warranty was $150 and the refurb 4520 was $1300. The prices now are absolutely amazing!!
