Hi,

I've owned a DENON AVR-1911 for a few years and one issue is now seriously threatening me from a WAF point of view.

My setup is as follows: A small form factor media PC (a shuttle XS35GT) is used to handle all media (TV, videos, music, pictures). The box is connected via a HDMI cable to the AVR-1911 (DVD HDMI input plug). From the AVR-1911 another HDMI cable runs the to TV (LG 42LS9000 LED TV). A full surround sound speaker set is attached to the AVR-1911 for excellent sound smile.gif

This works well (very well in fact) for movies, recorded TV, etc.

It also works well for music AS LONG AS THE TV IS ON. If I do not turn on the TV, or turn it off after starting playback, the playback (via the stereo speakers - not the TV :-) stops...

I really don't want the TV on when playing just music, especially since I may control music player apps (e.g. iTunes) via SmartPhone table without ever turning on the TV.

Is this behaviour to be expected? If so, is there some configuration/trick I might use to change it?

Thanks a lot
Jens

Try placing an HDMI switch/splitter between the HTPC and AVR or between the AVR and TV.

Thanks for the reply jdsmoothie, I too have this problem and would like to try what you are suggesting.

Could you elaborate on what type of switch/splitter I should get and what the idea behind this approach is?

Best regards

Kasper

Any type should work. The point is you want the EDID of the TV to be copied to the switch/splitter so the AVR can still detect it even when the TV is off.
