I did a little bit of searching on this, but couldn't really find any numbers on what something like this might cost to fix.
I have an older Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH receiver that has developed a relatively loud buzzing noise coming through the speakers. I've tested to make sure it isn't some sort of ground loop issue (tried the receiver with just one speaker plugged in, multiple different circuits, even tried it in a different home). Also, I grabbed a friends newer receiver (can't remember the model atm), and its dead whisper silent.
With that said, anyone know if something like this is worth fixing? I'd rather not shell out the ~400 bucks or so to get another halfway decent receiver (especially because I'd like to move to an Emotiva preamp/poweramp setup sometime in the future). I live in the Chicago Suburbs, so I'm thinking there might be some places available, or maybe its something I could diagnose myself? I took the cover off the receiver and looked around, but this thing is way more complex than I was imagining, so I don't even know where to start.
Any pieces of advice guys? I have a feeling you're going to say just get a new one, but if theres any way I could fix t his guy up for cheap, that would be awesome.
