Hey guys,

I come to you, the audio gurus, for a question about my upcoming purchase of an AV receiver for my HT room. I already have all the speakers and subwoofer. I left the receiver for last.

Here are my speakers:
Polk Audio TSI400 L+R
Polk Audio CS10 Center
Polk Audio TSI100 SL+SR
BIC America F12 subwoofer

They are currently ran on an old SONY HTIB amp I've had for a few years. I slowly started upgrading the speakers and now it's time to get the receiver. The setup is intended for 70% music 30% movies. I'd love to have dedicated rooms for each, but I think that's a ways off, so I need a good trade-off between the two.

My HT room is tiny, probably around 4m x 4m. I don't know much about receivers and I have done some research. Unfortunately, the only brand I've really researched is Denon. The ones I've considered so far are:

Denon AVR-1712
1912
2112

As you can see I'm leaning toward an amp with 80+ W per channel, with or without ethernet connectivity. I realize my room is small, but I'm of the belief that buying more power than needed is better than buying insufficient power that may be needed later.

There are many other brands for receivers out there, so what else would you recommend apart from Denon, with similar power and features?

I always recommend Denon first, then when the client wants something cheaper, usually go to Onkyo. Many reasons for this, but that's the order. However, I just installed a Pioneer VSX-1122 for a client whating a couple of features it had that weren't on the Onkyo at the same price point. It was my first Pioneer install in recent history. Very impressed! I do favor Audyssey over Pioneer's MCACC, but the client was looking for a receiver with AirPlay in that price range, and Pioneer won. Lots of extra power too.

The power differences between those 3 models will be moot. The 2112CI is the model most recommended when at that budget level. Review post #2 in the Denon AVR-XX12 Owner's thread linked in my sig to compare the features of the various models.
