1. Depends on default audio selected on the DVD/BD.
2. Possibly. Although a Harmony remote would also be able to operate your other components as well ... so worth trying.

Thx a bunch. I guess best option is to check all the surround options available while playing movie and then choose the best one .

Harmoney remote it is then.

Latest Firmware Version?

Does anyone know the latest firmware version? I have 1490-1119-0000-2350-1867

I can't find a site anywhere that gives this info.

The D&M servers have been down the past couple of weeks ... but when they are back up again, the AVR will indicate whether it has the latest firmware loaded when you select the "Check for Update" setting (p. 138 Owner's manual).

Ahh, ok. I only hitch it up to the Internet every other year or so, as it's nowhere near an access point. When I check for an update, I get:

Result
Update Firmware Latest
Update Time ------

Does that mean I'm good? Thanks!

Well, my problem now is that, whenever I turn on the Marantz, it just says "Update Retry". I waited 15 minutes or so and it turned itself off. I turned it back on, and get the same message. That's somewhat disturbing. The Internet is working, as I'm on the same router it's connect to, as I type.

Just to update - no matter what I do, it always reverts to the "Update Retry" message with the arrows, as though it's doing something. I can't get it out of that mode. I've unplugged it, help the power key for a while (read that somewhere), etc. Any ideas?

Ended up trying a processor reset - no luck (same issue with it trying to update). Tried again - no luck. Then tried a network processor reset (the + and - preset channel buttons). It reset, but no output to the TV (I could see the setup items on the front of the AVR, though). So, unplugged, another processor reset. Same problem. I then selected English from the screen on the Marantz, then exited setup, and voila! The TV came alive. Obviously, I have to redo my setup, but such is life. It tells me my firmware is:
1490-1119-0000-2350-1867

I don't think I'll try and update the firmware again anytime soon!

After running Audyssey again, you can use the Web Control feature (p. 97 Owner's manual) to save a copy of the config file (including Audyssey) to a PC file.

I'm going to have to work out how to connect to my network, first. The AVR isn't near a good connection (which is probably part of my initial problem - I tried to rig up a temporary wired solution). I need to connect the AVR to my network via wireless, but have to do some research on how to get that done. It never ends, does it?

Some owners have purchased a 100-200' ethernet cable for firmware updates only.

I'm thinking wireless bridge, so it's always connected, but I may end going that route. Cable is pretty cheap, now-a-days. I appreciate your help and advice, btw! It's been useful.

Wireless bridge is good for day-to-day networking requirements, but generally a "wired" connection is more reliable for a firmware update. Lay out the cable. Do the update. Withdraw the cable. Although the 6007 is not likely to get anymore updates at this point.

Just to put a wrap on this, I used a 100ft cable to connect the AVR to the Internet and it updated with no problems whatsoever. It clearly hadn't updated properly, when I tried my previous attempt. So, I'm good to go. Thanks for the help!

I am having issues with the voice syncing with the picture when watching blurays ONLY. TV and Internet work fine.

Any idea what the cause is? Audessey is off and 24fps is turned on on the blurays player. Audio & video are hdmi from the bluray.

Hey guys, I just snagged a SR6007 for very cheap because it was missing the setup microphone. I tried downloading the manual but my iPad is acting up.

Can one of you guys please give me the SR6007's correct microphone model number?

Just bought a 5.1 Aperion system and a Emotiva 7 channel amp, I need the microphone to tie it all together

Thanks in advance!

You can use either the ACM-1H or ACM-1HB .... both available on eBay for about $25.
