Hey guys, Just got my SR6007 today.
I'm having a couple issues with a PC only setup:
1) I am connecting DVI -> monitor, hdmi -> receiver. There is no connection from receiver to monitor. My GPU (nvidia gtx 680) doesnt have any options to do audio only to the receiver. It seems that in order to make it work, I need to either go HDMI -> receiver -> monitor, or to tell the nvidia driver to clone one of my displays to the receiver.
This can obviously be fixed with the HDMI thing easiest, but if anyone knows of some software level stuff to accomplish this, i would be much obliged. Pure audio over HDMI.
2) Receiver Output Modes. When I give it a stereo signal, it should play 2.0 or 2.1 (if speakers == small and subwoofer == LFE+main). I have a 5.1 setup. When I send it a multichannel audio file (5.1 flac, for example) it should be playing in multichannel. When I send it DTS or DOLBY, it should be displaying DTS or Dolby and decoding them to 5.1
This is, i think, largely per-application settings.
VLC: When playing stereo, the receiver thinks it is getting a 3/2/.1 stream.
I think the stream itself is 3/2/.1, the device is set to 2.0 and use s/pdif when available, and no sound comes from the rear or center. But still, it should be displaying 2/0/.0. Not 3/2/.1. What gives?
When playing DTS, it receives a 3/2//1 stream
When playing Dolby, it receives either 3/2/.1 or 2/0/0 depending on the codec used.
When playing mutichannel files (5.1 flac or 5.1 AAC soundtrack) the receiver recieves a 3/2/.1 stream.
MusicBee(media player): Fixed it so that all music shows on receiver as 2/0/.0.
So with the receiver set to AUTO and the proper software configuration, everything works EXCEPT for 2.0 files in VLC. 2.0 files like downloaded music still are being sent over as a 5.1 stream.
I do have windows configured to use 5.1 speakers, so perhaps it is padding the 2.0 PCM stream with the remaining 4 channels and sending that over. But that doesnt make any sense. If musicbee can do it, why cant VLC?
