How many Emotiva purchases and subsequent returns have you made, if any?

Perhaps Emotiva is prioritizing those who have made no returns or fewer returns of their products, calculating that these folks will less likely find significant fault with the XMC-1 as well and could potentially serve as better promoters of their product to others during this "first wave" of order fulfillment. Get their sales rolling with as much positive buzz as possible, in other words.

Just idle speculation on my part. But if they are indeed filling orders out of order and it's not simply a random accidental occurrence, well, it might be a plausible strategy on their part.

Mourning the disappearing usage of the -ly suffix. Words being cut-off before they've had a chance to fully form, left incomplete, with their shoelaces untied and their zippers undone. If I quote your post (or post in your thread) without comment, please check your zipper.

You won't really know until it's been around for a while. Initial reports tend to be unreliable for just about anything you can think of.

I've bought several processors from them including 2 UMC-200's. I'm using it as I type this. Also bought several sets of speakers from them including the ERT 8.3 tower speakers I'm listening to music with as I type. The only thing I've ever returned were a set of the ERM 6.2 - they were no better IMO than the ERM-1's I kept for the bedroom. Great little bookshelf speaker.

Very peculiar that none of the beta testers did answer questions about PEQ. Don't they know, didn't they test, aren't they allowed to talk about it?

I have always found the information provided by those doing beta testing for Oppo to be extremely reliable. Question is would any of these guys recommend a competitors device based on the users needs as done many times by those on the Oppo threads. Reliable and honest

If you take what he says with a grain of salt. Do you REALLY think that he's risk his job by saying something negative other than a few throw away items just to attempt to prove he isn't baised by the nature of his employment?

A review by someone who is NOT employed by or beholden Emotiva, by someone who paid cold, hard cash for the unit rather than being given one since they work there, or by someone who is not affiliated with Emo as a moderator or similar would be much more informative.

This thing is a total joke. The only thing of value for this thing and units do not have Dirac.

They could have offered to ship Mini-DSP's Dirac box with the initial units at no additional cost.

An audiophile likes to talk about how much they spent and how good it sounds.

A DIY'er likes to talk about how little they spent and how good it sounds.

Not sure about what you say about DIRAC being the only thing of value. The published data on its performance is pretty stellar and supports users' claims that it sounds fantastic. It looks like it can provide extremely high quality multichannel sound AND extremely high quality 2 channel sound in 1 unit. That's a pretty significant result. Assuming DIRAC does come along, that's even better. I was not originally interested, but reading more about it in the real world - it's getting pretty interesting to me.

Yep. They handled the communication around the development *horribly*, but the measurements and reviews so far are stellar. It may very well be at least as good as high end processors with a similar feature set, like the Classe SSP800. Hopefully I will have mine soon and can put my 2 cents in on it. To say its a total joke because of not having Dirac makes no sense. By that rationale every other processor except the Datasat is also a joke.

I think the statements that the XMC-1 "is a total joke" should be put on hold till some "real" reviews by non biased owners are available. I've been very critical of Emotiva's handling of the whole XMC-1 roll out but I'm very interested in how well it will be reviewed. I'm definitely interested in the XMC-1 but only after Dirac is active and there are no operational issues to speak of.

Who are these users? The selected beta testers? Is there any real users?

Nope, just ones that make claims and take 8 years to come to market and don't deliver.

Amazing....shakes head...I really hope this piece turns out to be a great success. For a USA built product by a USA company at this price point would be really great...it's just taking so dang long.

I hope it does well also. However I have been watching this thing for a year and got on the list 6 months ago. First it was February, then nothing, then shipping at the end of June and now it is almost August and I have heard nothing. Now no Dirac? I gave it a year.
