I have a Sonos Connect which has digital out and analog out. Would it be better to use an external DAC or use the DAC in the SONOS? Is there any sound benefits to doing the conversion not in the SONOS?

I have an Emotiva dac and a sonos zp90. I do not hear any difference between the dac in the sonos vs the Emotiva. Hope that helps.

Ha ha ha. Me too. I have the XDA-1 and today I thought...maybe I'll try it without. So, I ran the digital out of the Sonos to the DAC and into my receiver while simultaneously running the analog out of the Sonos to the receiver. Via remote I was A/B switching between the DAC signal and the Sonos signal.

To my ears they were indistinguishable. DAC might be for sale!
