I have the definitive technology pro cinema 600

Here are the specs.
I listen to movies at a average volume and also medium to soft at night.
How many watts do i need to match these speakers and give the best sound at low volumes so i can still here details in audio

My living room is 19ft by 13ft but the ceiling is 2 floors up

Those speakers should be fairly easy to drive and on average will only be drawing < 5W/CH so most any AVR (eg. 50W+) will provide more than enough power.

How did you come up with 5watts per channel why do they say they can handle 150 watts?

Those speakers have an 88db efficiency rating which means if you're seated about 10' from them you will get roughly ...

1W = 78db
2W = 81db
4W = 84db (which is quite loud and generally louder than most folks listen at)
