Hey all ---

I'm starting to wonder if it's time to upgrade my Onkyo 605 (bought in 2007 -- HDMI ports are loose-fitting and it's starting to get intermittent weird problems), and could use some advice on finding the best receiver for my budget, which will be somewhat low. I'm hoping to keep the new receiver in the $300 range, but could go up to $400 if I have to.

Features I'd want:

* HD Audio Codecs (Dolby True HD, DTS HDMA) --- and obviously Dolby PLII, etc

* 4+ HDMI inputs

* 3D capable pass thru

* 7.1 or better

* 4K pass thru

Now the 4K passthru stuff I don't know much about --- just that some current gen receivers have it as a way to 'future proof' against the next resolution jump. I'm a bit cynical and wonder just how well it will work (like DVI and component cables being stripped of 1080p earlier in this gen).... but if it's a legit feature I'd like to have it.

Are there any other important features I'm missing? Is networking important in a receiver? Do any models feature USB HDD playback (like a media center)? Is Dolby Atmos going to be a receiver feature anytime soon?

Does such a receiver exist in this price range? I'd really appreciate some guidance here!! I know the budget range might have some limitations in features, but a discussion on what's possible would be great.

Just did the same upgrade to the Denon 2312 back in June. Love it and has been great for me. Airplay was a big feature for me.
