why is it that when i use my bell sat recieve on sdr the volume always sounds low compare to hd.

Compressed DD 5.1 (some HD channels) is generally a few db louder than uncompressed PCM 2.0 (SD channels), although it could also be related to how the station is broadcasting it as well.

** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.
