I've been looking around for a good 5.1 channel receiver. I've been looking at the Denon AVR-1613 which costs $270 (Until the 25th of this month). My budget is anything $300 or under. Please don't recommend me anything over than that, as whenever that happens, I start spending a TON of money on a first time deal, and start to regret it. I have absolutely no problem in buying used, as long as it's not scratched up, and still works perfectly. I prefer a warmer, lusher sound with a forward mid range, as I mostly listen to rock and alternative rock, but also play games and watch movies all the time. The speakers I will be using this with are undecided, and I'll look into them after the receiver, but until then I'll be running some CHEAP Panasonic surround speakers that came with a system for only $160, but I now realize that they sound horrible. The only thing about the Denon, is that it's highs are supposed to be rolled off. The overall U.I. doesn't matter to me, as I have too much time on my hands most of the time.

Thanks in advance for all the help,
Mark K,

The speakers you purchase make way more difference than the receiver.

Since when do receivers have rolled off highs? That 's usually a comment reserved for speakers.

If the Denon 1613 has all the features you want then it'll be a good purchase.

I didn't get it, I decided to get a Nexus 7 instead, but am still really wanting to get a Denon receiver, but I want to save up until I can afford the Denon, and some decent speakers.
