Hi all-

I am considering a TX-NR515. I am aware that the 2nd HDMI output does not upscale. I would use it for a 2nd TV in another room. My question is whether the 2nd HDMI passes through the audio when the audio signal is extracted for the Main HDMI (so that the receiver provides the audio in the main room). I want to be able to get audio from my TV in my 2nd room using the 2nd HDMI output (the "OUT SUB") while at the same time using the receiver in the main room for the main HDMI output. I understand I would be watching the same input source on both HDMI outputs. I have reviewed the manual and I can't tell if it will do this for the 2nd HDMI out unless I pass through the audio to the TV on the Main HDMI out.

Thanks.

As noted on p. 62 of the Owner's manual under "Audio TV Out", when this setting is ON, it may pass audio to the FL/FR speakers as well if the AVR's volume is increased (but certainly no surround sound).

Call for pricing on Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, Klipsch, Def Tech, Oppo, Parasound
** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

Yes, but can that setting be turned on independently for HDMI Sub (2) out, while not turning it on for HDMI Main (1)?

Thanks.

Nope. Applies to both.

Are there receivers in this price range (or a little higher) that have 2 HDMI outputs that work independently? I have 2 TVs in my room that both have HDMI inputs (the secondary TV is also my computer monitor) and I'd like to output my video game (PS3 or Wii) to the main TV with the sound coming out of the receiver, but at the same time, have my DVR output to my secondary TV. Is this possible?

Although there have been a number of models released just this year with Zone 2(HDMI) outputs (Pioneer SC-67/68; Onkyo 3010/5010, Denon 3313CI/4520CI, Marantz SR7007/AV7701/AV8801), the lowest priced of these models is likely to be the Denon AVR-3313CI (MSRP $1199) as the other models range in the well over $1000+ range. You may be better served simply adding a 4x2 HDMI splitter between your sources and the AVR routing one output to the AVR and the other to the PC monitor. Note however, that if the PC monitor does not have speakers, when playing the same source to both displays, the audio in the main zone will likely be muted. This would also be the case using one of the above AVRs as well.
