Hi guys, new to the forums here.

From reading the user's posts there's more valuable information and more knowledge than let's say "amazon reviews"...

Now to the point, I'm researching for a budget HT (new house, new baby) for my square 16' x 16' x 10' living room.

Use would be 70% OTA HD TV, Hulu Plus HD + Amazon Prime HD content. 30% Pandora, shoutcast music streams.

Have a Panasonic TC-P55ST30, PS3, XBOX360, WDTV Live, so I don't see any need for network, airplay device.

So I would like some input from you on what I've gathered so far as my best options (in order of preference)

- Yamaha RX-V373 (Factory Refurbished) $195.00 - 2012 model

- Denon AVR-1612 (Factory Refurbished) $189.99 - 2011 model

Thanks in advance!

Flip a coin. The plusses and minuses look pretty well balanced to me. I own a RX-V371 but I'd rather have the AVR 1612 with Audyssey, maybe.

How about if we add these to the list. Would any of them make a better option over the Denon AVR-1612?

- Pioneer VSX-821
- Yamaha RX-V471

Is the Pioneer VSX-822 a better option?

I found it for $200 new free s/h vs the Denon 1612 refurb for 189.99 shipped.

Any advice?

I'd go with the Denon because of Audyssey that EQ's the subwoofer channel along with all the other speaker channels, while the Pio leaves the sub channel alone.

If you are looking for deep, smooth and even bass, go for the Denon. Do a subwoofer crawl , run Audyssey, then set all your speakers to "Small" and all crossovers to 80 Hz. Enjoy! smile.gif

P.s.: More on the subject of "Large vs. Small" here.

Both Amazon & Newegg deals have the Pioneer VSX-1022 for $249.99 shipped.

Earlier on the Pioneer VSX-822 for $180 shipped caught my eye but missed that deal.

Right now is this vs Denon AVR-1612 refurb ($199.99 shipped A4less) or Denon AVR-1613 refurb (261.07 shipped)

What you think about this? Good deals?
