I am new to the A/V receiver aspect and am curious if I should purchase one.
Do A/V receivers really enhance picture/sound quality for the tv?

Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Some "may" but generally only for SD video and even then generally not a night and day difference, in fact, many just bypass the AVR's video processing as either the TV or the source device will generally do as good (or better) of a job. If youhaven't already, suggest you upgrade to an HD account with your cable/SAT provider rather than relying on an AVR to do the job.

thanks for the reply!

I do have HD dvr setup with Cable One. The problem I have is that I am getting a "heat effect" around players in sports (it looks similar to what you would see on a hot day on top of the pavement)

I know it is not the tv because i have gone through 3 different tvs and they all experience it. It has to be the source but i am not sure how to fix it.

Contact your cable company to try another model number box.
