I found a Harmon Kardon AvR1700 for 299.99. What do you guys think about this reciever for music mostly and does it do 2.1?
Music to movie ratio is 80/20 and will most likely be paired with either wharfedale diamond 10.1 or wharfedale evo2-20 and an hsu vtf2-mk4.
This will be in a 15

Just about any receiver will do 2.1. The 1700 already has been as low as $250 already so I have to think it will drop to that again. First of all, you need to tell us what features are important to you. Do you want networking, ipod connection, is room EQ important to you, etc? There may be other options to look at for a similar price.

Music is the main thing for me. Id like a reciever with
-room eq
-5.1
-less than 0.1% THD (??? Is there audible difference between 0.9% and 0.1%?)
-at least 90wpc
-multiple hdmi ports with audio
-aesthetically pleasing
-reliable
-bluetooth (if possible)
- under 349.99 shipped/tax included

Probably not going to be a significant performance difference between the two so just pick the one whose features seem to match your needs more. I will say that the 1700 is pretty much an all new design so there is less of a track record on reliability while Yamaha is generally considered to be the most reliable of the receiver brands. You should also make sure to check out the options Denon has.
