My Denon AVR 1610 amp is done, so its time start over?

Summary, I have Definitive front and center speakers, and a Samsung 60" LCD, in my main living room. This room is an open 2 greatroom to the upstairs. Basically a 24 ft ceiling. I cannot afford to pay a professional to come wire this room for surround, but still want to get as close as possible to surround. ( I know I am a dreamer)

So basically, I have 2 fronts, and a center channel, and subwoofer, to use for maximum effect.

Need new receiver.
Currently use the Denon for normal TV/movie/stereo, as well as use the B channel to listen to stereo outside.
Would like to maximize surround effects.

Is there a receiver out that can mimic the Bose Cinemate, which uses 2 speakers and a sub, to create surround ( i know you can't rear surround this way, but it does sound good)

1)Get new receiver to accomplish wants, stereo with A/B channel, simulated surround for basically 3.1 setup,
2) Get awesome sound bar systems, then buy seperate cheaper stereo to use for radio, and for outside deck
3) buy Bose Cinemate, and cheap stereo for radio purposes.
2/3a- can soundbars systems or Bose Cinemate be used with a Universal remote?

I know I am scatter shooting but would love some help.

Thanks all

some of the professionals want to much to install. one told me once they install 300,000 dollar systems. seems overpriced to me.

Haven't run into your situation. What kind of Def Techs do you have? My guess is some people are going to say that a good sounding 3.1 system is going to sound better than a poor sounding 5.1 system.

Another option may be to go wireless for your surrounds. That may cause other issues but that may be an option.

Do you have any chance of running speaker wire under the floor (basement?) and go that way?
