Hey guys,
I will start by apologizing for the newbie question. I have tried to read through many of these threads and there is just SOOOO much info that it's hard to make anything of it. Much of it talks about stuff that I know nothing about. If I could get some help on selecting an AVR I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Here is what I have.
Panasonic TC-P65VT50
DirecTV
PS3
Apple TV
Current AVR is a Onkyo TS 607(not 3d capable)

TV is in a family room and my current speakers are Klipsch Quartet Sat's with a 10" Klipsch Sub. I will probably upgrade to a decent set of 8" in wall speakers in the next year or so.

I am looking for an AVR that has a good video processor as well as good sound. I really like the sound of the 607 so I wouldn't mind sticking with Onkyo. Looks like the Onkyo NR818 is well liked on this forum so that is what I have been leaning towards. Any insight from the forum is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

(as mentioned in the title, $1000 range)

If you're going to pull the trigger on the 818 I wouldn't wait too long. That sale price on amazon may not last much longer. I would definately pick it over the 607. That's a great price for what your getting.

For $449.50 that is a great deal. I have an 806, but upgraded to an 809 get 3D pass thru, networking capability, and more HDMI inputs. You could throw some of that extra cash into those in wall speakers...

Better make sure they have them in stock at your local store as they are out of stock online. The stores in my area are out of stock.

Thanks. Know the difference in the 818 and 809 off the top of your head?

The big difference is the 818 has Audyssey XT32.

Which I hear is a pretty big deal. I just emailed the general manager at Best Buy to see if she can order one. If she can't, I will purchase off of Amazon. I prefer to try to keep the B&M stores around.
