Hi All,

Posted recently about temperatures in an un-air-conditioned boat dock storage area, running speakers out to the deck area. I think I'm going to go for it and get a cooling fan to add on top of whatever receiver we decide to use.

I'm looking for a recommendation on what receivers to look at. I think the only things it will be used for: Airplay (iPad, iPod, etc) and possibly FM reception. It will not be hooked to a TV or theater set up, etc. Given the limited number of uses we have for it, I don't want to break the bank, but I would like decent quality for the Airplay (good range, etc).

Not sure yet, but probably powering 2 or 4 outdoor speakers - leaning towards Def Tech as I'm very pleased with my surround setup in my home.

Are there any "affordable" receivers to fit this scenario? I'll look forward to your suggestions.

Thanks.

PS - I was looking at the Sony 1800ES, but it may seem a bit overkill just for the Airplay and FM tuner.

I've heard complaints about Pioneer's implementaton of Airplay. I'm not an airplay person so I wouldn't know. For budget receivers with airplay, do some research on the Denon 1613, Sony DN1030, Yamaha 473, or Pioneer 1022.

If you only want something for AirPlay and no Video why not get something like this. Hooks up wirelessly to a network. I have one and it looks and sounds excellent. Plays outside on the patio when hooked up to my Wi-FI. Here's the link. http://www.klipsch.com/gallery-g17-air

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, the boat house/dock is too far away from the house and won't have access to a network. So as I've been researching, I think I need "bluetooth", not "airplay".
