I just bought it to replace my old Sony str-de845. It finally died and I was so used to it. Now I'm thinking of returning the Pioneer for the Yamaha V373.

Any thoughts? I will be shopping at best buy because I have credit there.

If you don't need lot of features like ARC, standby pass through, you can score a harman kardon AVR 1700 for $199 in bb. I got one today.

No need for ARC but pass through will be a need.

Last night and today I have been getting some sort of weird turn on thump to the subs when its powered on. I can't figure out why. Its pretty loud and annoying that it does that. My old receiver didn't do that.

Now I'm thinking of trying to get the yamaha rx-473 over the 373 or even maybe the pioneer 822k or 1022k.

Any opinions.? I figure BB could price match amazon to get a good deal.

You can definitely get a 1022 for less than $300.

You should also check your local Best Buy for clearance or open box items. Where are you located?

I think you can get the Yamaha HTR-4065 from Costco for $300 or less. 4065 is equivalent to the RX-V473.

Im almost dead set on Denon avr1613 or Yamaha rx-v473. I might have to pay a little more but after reading up on them, they seem like a better overall receiver than the pioneer 522 and 1022. I dont need 7.1.

But how much better are they in sound comparison and actual output power?
