I did update that one a whole back and it fixed the hdmi flashing issues with my ps4. It was odd but worth. I may keep it for whatever. Not getting much for them and for anyone wounding if it's worth going to a 2700 or 3700. Much better sound. I was shocked something this light could sound this good

Can't believe Harman CS couldn't get you that in a short amount of time. It is pretty sad. I would guess the majority of Harman Kardon customers are repeat customers from back in the day. I assume the amount of people that are buying their first AVR are not looking the HK way, so take care of your business. IMO

How hot does your 3700 run. I have a an Emotiva XPA-3 driving my L/R/C so the HK is only pushing the 2 surrounds and 2 front heights, Klipsch speakers. It seams to me to run quite hot to the touch, even if I have my TV on pause for an hour. I don't have a lot of ventilation room. It just seems weird that even with no speakers drawing power it runs hot. I have had no problems, but cooler is always better. Any opinions? are there flat fans that could sit on top or underneath?

I gave up on my 2700. was to bass heavy. Bought a Sony 1050, I love it. Sounds so much better, very dynamic sound. Also love the HDMI passthrough. HK is always behind in terms of specs and features.

I have a 3700. It was replaced by HK for my failing 7550. After getting an Emotiva amp I have the power of he 7550 with the full HDMI control & 3D passthrough of the 3700.

At first I was running all channels through the Emotiva, I recently moved the surrounds to the HK so have about 130 actual wpc. It sounds great.

Can someone please email me the V06.18 firmware? Searched online and can't find it, and HK's own website doesn't appear to carry firmwares anymore, only documentation. I'm on V06.17 and chasing a bug that seems related to my HDMI signal negotiation. Sometimes the video will flicker and jitter and I have to unplug my hdmi cable to the projector and let it re-sync and then its fine. Its very random and certainly not all the time. It could be my cable as its a 50ft HDMI with redmere which may have some type of chip of its own that helps with signaling.

EDIT: received the file from HK support after contacting them via their web form. Tried attaching but too large for the forum. I can email to anyone that needs it, or you can contact HK support. They got back to me in a day.

Dear colleagues, good night!

I am Brazilian and I ask forgiveness for any mistakes in pronunciation or concordance in English.

I have been following the forum postings a few months to gain knowledge and ask questions about what would be the best receiver to acquire the range of +/- $ 800

I read numerous reviews on the models I was interested and decided to buy a Harman Kardon AVR 2700 that failed on the second day of use.

I'm here to ask for help from more experienced.

Equipment:

A) TV 46 "Philips LED 3D 1080P.
B) XBOX ONE
C) Power Conditioner: BY Knirsch LP-115
D) Acquired in April 2001:

Mini System Aiwa XH-A1060 model
5.1 channel discrete amplifiers.
Power Consumption 320W =
Weight (receiver) 18.5 kg
Analog connections (RCA)

Amplifier midrange - High:
Front Output Power: Nominal 80 + 80 (Watts RMS 8 ohms, THD 1%, 1 kHz)
Power surround rear output: Nominal 80 + 80 (Watts RMS 8 ohms, THD 1%, 1 kHz)
Center Output Power: Nominal 80 (Watts RMS 8 ohms, THD 1%, 1 kHz)

Amplifier and subwoofer low frequencies:
Output power: Nominal 200 + 200 (Watts RMS 6 ohms, THD 1%, 100 Hz)

E) DVD LG DV7352N (5.1 CH, DOLBY DIGITAL, DTS DIGITAL) analog outputs (RCA 5.1 ch)

I used this receiver setup with DVD Since 2001 smoothly and the sound when performed by DVD 5.1 channel for me has always been excellent, so much so that never interested me get a better receiver.

After adquirie the XBOX ONE and sign NETFLIX stopped watching DVDs due to low image quality and began to constantly view NETFLIX but running sound and stereo (2ch) due to my receiver does not have optical digital input or HDMI.

Recently I bought:
For use as front:
Pair of professional CSR boxes mod. CSR770 (8 ohms, 150 WRMS, frequency response 55Hz - 20KHz -3dB, Sensitivity 96 dB)

To Use as Surround:
Pair of Waldman Professional boxes, mod. HomeCab 5.52s (2-way, 5 ", 8 ohms, 50WRMS, frequency response 90Hz - 20kHz, 92dB sensitivity)

June / 2015 bought the receiver Harman Kardon AVR 2700 installed, did the initial setup of calibration with 7.1ch speakers are:

Central boxes and surround "back": (old Aiwa 80W rms boxes, 8 ohms, sensitivity 89dB Full-Rantge)

Surround: HomeCab 5.52s
Front side boxes: CSR770
Subwoofer: using receiver as Aiwa amplifier, 2-channel 200 + 200 WRMS in 5.1 channel mode. (The receiver Harman AVR 2700 Output in subwoofer entry Aiwa (RCA to RCA), I leave the Aiwa processing in 5.1 channels but only the subwoofer is activated.

In the automatic settings, the frequency of cuts were as follows:
Central cash stood at 120 Hz
Surround speakers at 100Hz
Front speakers in 80HZ
Subwoofer 80HZ

Result: Simply beautiful, a quality that I never heard before .. The sound is clear, crystalline, detail can be heard without any effort, actually many times better than my old Awia and that because only play Netflix titles with Dolby Digital decoding Plus 5.1 that is lower than the HD as DTS-HD Master 7.1

Anyway, really I felt like another world listening to this Harman AVR 2700

My drama started when Harman presented flaws in the video, displaying numerous tracks in the vertical / horizontal and sometimes several drops (dots like a drizzle on the screen). The audio remained very good, but the video was doomed.

Returned to Loja and afraid to experience the same problem with the same model Harman, I decided to take the Denon AVR X2100W.

Repeated throughout the Automatic setting process with the microphone, this time Audyssey
Not remember how was the cutoff frequencies in Denon.

All set up and came to disappointment !! The Denon has a sound (in my opinion) much lower than Harman, bass middle and treble are not as clear and crystalline actually sounded to me very indistinct, those minute details that were very audible in Harman, disappeared in Denon, then started to test everything, all conceivable ways, doing a lot of combination, Audyssey MultEQ, Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Audyssey Dynamic EQ, turning off all, linking one thing, another off and could not match the sound Harman. I tried for 5 long days find that superior sound quality Harman and found nothing in the Denon, just seemed right next to my old Aiwa DVD, ie, a common sound with nothing to be applauded.

I was disappointed with the sound timbre Denon, liked the features that are far superior to Harman as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI Pass, most real power in multi channel, best FM tuner, various sound EQ modes, but the main What is "good sound compared to Harman" I not found in Denon.

Luckily, this problem Denon also presented in the video, this time the video shut down for a few seconds and then connected again, this in Fifth Day of Service began less frequently in six days worsened, hence requested the return of the Denon.

Now is my big question:

Harman Kardon AVR 2700 vs. Pioneer VSX-1124

Caught again the Harman Kardon AVR 2700 which has a fantático sound or the Pioneer VSX-1124 which was also very highly rated in reviews by the sound quality?

Seen in various forums that the signature sound Harman Kardon is unparalleled and only the Marantz approach the sound signature Harman, but the Marants are too expensive for my small budget.

Already these new Harman AVR 2700 and 3700 models are not very reliable with these switching power supplies, have some defects known as automatic shutdown after 1 hour using HDMI ARC or optical connection (resolved with firmware update), Catching constantly having to turn off the device at on / off switch, some reports in which the device for sounding the channels. Etc.

My problem with the AVR 2700: System stops responding, freezes completely, requiring the trigger on / off switch on trazeira of the receiver. Porteriormente video (faults, stripes, sprinkles).

But the Pioneer also had some many little problems reported by their owners, but in the forums do not see anyone saying that the sound is so good, this sound quality that the staff of the HARMAN KARDON forums talk so much and I could prove personally can not see being exalted likewise pioneer in forums, just saw this in the reviews of websites specializing in home theater such as "REVIEW: Pioneer VSX-1124-K - Stellar Sound Quality - avproductreviews.com

I count on the opinion of you to help me in deciding which receiver catch this time.

Harman Kardon AVR 2700 or Pioneer VSX-1124?

Taking into consideration:
1 - Project Reliability: (which the least technical problems as HDMI failures or lack of sound in channels etc.)
2 - Sound Quality: (Pioneer vsx 1124 has a high-quality sound, better than the Denon, next to Harman?)
3 - Features: Pioneer has the advantage of pre amplified outputs for the left and right front channels and more power in the multi-channel Harman)

I am more inclined to Harman in 2700 because I believe that sound the same will not find in any other brand.

Hugs.

Hey guys,

I want to use my 3700 to drive center, surround channels, and use a separate amplifier to drive the mains (fronts). Connecting the front channels pre-out's on the 3700 to my amplifier isn't my mental challenge. But I can't figure out how to properly set this up in the software. I realize the front channels in the 3700 need to be shut off so it doesn't drive them unloaded. How do you set this up in the software interface? HK customer service just tells me to read page 38 of the owners manual. This didn't help. Perhaps I'm thick headed.

Sorry to barge in on the thread. Hopefully I didn't break much protocol. I'm a typical newbie learning the AVS forums. Maybe!?

Thank You,
Logan

I don't think upgrade firmware will solve this, but....

I have already reseted the unit, and the problem is still there.
I have had multiplt units fixed for monitor outputs that have died. I have returned 3 i believe and have one out on the fourth. These units sucks!

Are Harman Kardon receivers dead? Can't find any new models not from 2013 or stock.
