Thanks
but hat doesn't work smile.gif after registering your device, you'll get an email from Aaron Price. And the email tells you that he doesn't work for Harman Kardon anymore, and nothing happens smile.gif

So the link is dead ( since feb 14 )

And another problem

I tried Wired and Wireless, but with both WMP or my homenetwork can't see the AVR370. On the Network setting the AVR says that it's connected but that the folder is emty.

I don't understand why those things don't work if you do exactly what's in the manual....

so i've had HK 3700 since it was released, i probably was one of the first to get it, since it was pre-ordered and had to wait on it for what it seems forever, i am quite happy with the quality of sound, and this is my 4th generation of HK receivers within very few years started with 645 rolleyes.gif which had major HDMI issues for HD video, then the problematic (Protect issue)3600 mad.gif, then 3650 which was the most stable at least from video prospective cool.gif, then the 3700 with all its bells and whistles! tongue.gif

i am pairing this receiver with B&W speakers for 5 channels, and using an older infinite sub SW21 (only one) , along with a Samsung smart TV which supports ARC and optical output. its amazing what this thing light wight receiver could produce. I was real skipitickal at first fearing a commoditized lower quality due to whatever MUCH lighter design, but i was real impressed, be it the power supply, D or A/B class amplifiers !

however, it does indeed have an issue where it will lock up quite frequently when left on standby for an extended period of time, and wont even respond to buttons on the unit itself, or let alone the remote control, when switched off by the power supply switch on the back, or even unplugged from outlet, the amber light stays on for around 10 seconds before it finally goes off, which in my non engineering mind may be due to waiting for a capacitor to drain, if tuned back on before that, it will not work !

i have been rather busy, with hardly time to even report the issue, like i said, i am actively using ARC on my TV to minimize cabling to TV playing Netflix, amazon prime, 3d content, etc , so my TV isn't merely a monitor, but rather a source too, i could try optical out only like i did with my prior receivers, but didn't get the chance to.

i love Airplay on this receiver, though its audio only, i wish i could stream video via it, vtuner is AWESOME, which sorta existed in 3650, WIFI is most convenience unlike my 3650 which had to be wired..

though, regardless of these nifty features, at the very core of what to expect from an audio device quality, this by far had surpassed my expectations for an optimal experience! when Dolby digital is not a source, Pro logic (which never been a preference except with this receiver) or DTS NEO produces phenomenal quality audio,

i hope that helps! biggrin.gif

I currently have an HK 2600, but thinking of upgrading. I was looking at the onkyo 616, but have read a lot of bad reviews on it. now im thinking of staying with harman and going to the 2700. what more would i get with that over my 2600? is it better than the onkyo? where is the best place to order one right now from? thanks for any help, also, does this do internet radio, such as sirius, etc?

Has anyone here noticed that BestBuy is now selling three new HK receivers on their website. They have the AVR 1510, 1610, and 1710. Here's the link. I'm curious if anyone has an opinion on how the AVR1710 compares to the AVR2700? I'm replacing my AVR2600 after it suffered a lightning strike death and planned on purchasing the 2700. My major hangup with the 2700 is the $800 price tag. That's a hard pill to swallow, but now the $549 price tag on the 1710 has caught my eye. I'm kind of ignorant when it comes to the different classes of amps, etc. I'm just looking for any major things that you guys would stay away from in either receiver. You know, the pros and cons of each.

Here's a link to "The New Harman Kardon AVR 1510,1610, 1710 Receivers" on the forum for more info.

Thanks in advance! biggrin.gif

I got the new AVR 3700 yesterday (the european version of the AVR 370), I want to control the thing through ethernet if possible, and rs232 if i must. However the manual is very very sparse on details (both the paper one following the product and the one I found online), so I have two questions.

1. Is the RS232 commands documented any place?
2. Do the receiver also take commands through ethernet, or do i have to use the old rs232.

You spelled it the Canadian way. That's a far greater offense. (Yes, offense with a s. There are no shades of gray (with an a).)

Linguistic differences aside. Does anyone know what kind of DAC's are in these receivers? Are they still using AK's?

HK uses the Cirrus Logic combo IC (CS42528) for ADCs (2CH), DACs (8CH), DIR..

For anyone interested, jr.com is selling the AVR 2700 for $599 if you order by phone, even though the website says $799. Just click the link here then find the "Call for Latest Price Why?" link under the Add to Cart button and call the number for the latest price. I just did it and to my surprise I was able to purchase the 2700 for $599 with free shipping! biggrin.gif

I recently purchased the HK AVR 1710 from Best Buy for $549 + tax for a total of $590. For $9 more I think I'll upgrade! Besides, the 1710 wasn't all I was hoping for.

Just placed an order for the 3700. It has LARGE shoes to fill though, it will be replacing my beloved Pioneer SC-35. This will be my third HK AVR and I am excited to see how the 18lb 3700 stacks up against my 65lb SC-35 with I.C.E 140 watt amps. Happy to be a HK family member again.

Oppo BDP103, Sony 70" LED, Definitive Technology Mythos STS Towers, Definitive Technology Mythos 9's x3, Pioneer SC-1523-K, Furman Elite 15, Harmony Ultimate Hub and Rythmik FV15HP.

I just bought a harman 2700. Just noticed the 1710 was released. Notice it has the ez set eq III and delivers 550W compared to the 2700's 370W which is weird considering they are both rated at 100W x 2. Also noticed that the 1710 doesn't have dolby volume. Which av receiver would you say is better for movie watching? My 2700 with the dolby volume sounds superb with movies.

I bought the 1710 and it feels like a downgrade from my 2600. My 2700 arrives today and I'll be returning the 1710 to BestBuy over the weekend. I fully expect the 2700 to be similar in quality and features to my old 2600, with a few new tricks of course.

You won't be disappointed with the 2700. I love mine. Movies and music sound fantastic, the video processor does a nice job. I'm stepping up from a Pioneer VSX-1120. The sound from the HARMAN KARDON 2700 is so much better. I don't ever see myself ever buying another brand. Also, it matches up perfectly with the JBL Studio 5 speakers; 4 studio 530's, 1 520C, and 1 550P SUB. Even with the volume at -40 I hear everything, dialogue is very clear. I give thanks to Dolby Volume, don't know how I lived without it.

The 1710 on paper looks like a great bargain. 700W into 7.2 channels? The major thing I notice is a lack of analog inputs and video scaling. Otherwise? Wow!

Should I return my Yammy A720 and get the 1710? I only got rid of my 2650 because my wife (understandably) hated the audio dropouts.

I have no experience with the yamaha, but if you're considering the HK 1710, I'd call jr.com like I did and get the 2700 (assuming they still have it for $599). The 2700 actually ended up being cheaper than the 1710 because I had to pay 9.5% tax at BestBuy. I too had the audio dropout issue with my old 2600, and I did notice that issue was gone with the 1710. I assume it won't be an issue with the 2700 either. I guess I'll find out tonight when I hook it up.

Well I just got my 3700 all hooked up to my Klipsch RF-63's and my Rythmik FV15HP. I really love the HK sound. I can tell that my Pioneer SC-35 had more "power" but the HK is way more detailed. I made the right move, I think my favorite little feature II's the on screen volume controls, I always had a hard time reading the volume on my Pioneer. Now time to upgrade my TV. Using a Mitsubishi 82" DLP right now and love it but I will be moving soon so I need to go a little smaller, thinking about the top tier Samsung 65" or the top tier Sharp 70".

Oppo BDP103, Sony 70" LED, Definitive Technology Mythos STS Towers, Definitive Technology Mythos 9's x3, Pioneer SC-1523-K, Furman Elite 15, Harmony Ultimate Hub and Rythmik FV15HP.
