Generally, does bass/treble control on a receiver impact the audio going out to a recording component, such as tape?

Wondering if I can use an old receiver for a "preamp", sending audio to a 2-channel amp from a tape output.

I am working on trying to find a way to test this out, but if the answer here is "generally, no", I may stop thinking about it.

Thanks!

The tape out or rec out are not subject to tone control, and more importantly are not volume controlled. They're not suitable for connecting directly to a power amplier.
