Trying to find the best receivers from $300 - $500 for my Pioneer Speakers. Andrew Jones SP-PK52FS Speakers @ 6 OHMs. with the F12 Subwoofer.

I spoke to two separate Crutchfield representatives and each of them recommended the lower end Denon, and the lower end Yamaha.

Denon 1513, and the other rep recommended the Yamaha RX-V373 and to just purchase the Apple Airplay instead of these.

I originally was looking at purchasing the Denon 1713 mainly due to the extra HDMI ports and the MultiEQ XT that it has.

Now I am a bit confused as to why a sales rep, yes I repeat a sales rep would recommend a lower end model with half the features.

What would you guys say to this, and recommend?

I know the 1713 is $449.99 right now new, but I am waiting to see if a pre superbowl sale comes out where I can scoop it up for another $100 cheaper. I do not really want refurbished so staying away from the accessories4less deal.

Thanks

Might be just trying to save you some money or they have a bunch in stock they're trying to get rid of.

As for the 1713 is seems like a nice AVR. It does not have any legacy inputs or FM radio (IIRC). And they dropped 2 channels off the amp from the 1712.

Might want to check Amazon as well.

All the Denon XX13 models include at least a FM radio, rather it's the AM radio that was dropped from most of them to include the 1713.

@xkaijinx - I would suggest not going any lower than the 1613 as you will want a model with at least Audyssey MultEQ, although the 1713 does include the higher version of MultEQ XT which is also featured on the higher "CI" models (but not on the 1913). Also give both AVS sales and Electronics Expo a "call" (ie phone) and ask for their best price which will likely surprise you.

I'd rather get advice on which low end receivers would suffice for my speakers, and know I can move up to a more powerful, feature laden model, than get told I need something like the 1713 when I only have enough $ for the 1513. I'd prefer a rep that could save me some money, vs. trying to sell me more receiver than I really need.

Although max budget is certainly an important consideration, it's also important to understand the boost in audio quality going from a non-Audyssey model (ie. 1513) to one with Audyssey (ie. 1613 or higher model).
