After doing some more research I concluded that the Marantz SR7007 receiver should be on my short list.
Doing the research I came across its predecessor model SR7005. One difference between the two is the 4k support. I figure I don't need 4k for a while since I jsut got a new projector that is not 4k. I believe both support 3D? Are there significant differences in terms of audio, quality?

Can't speak about audio quality as I have not heard either yet, but I am looking at these also as I'm in the market for a new receiver in the somewhat near future (just got a new Panny 60" Plasma).
Below link is a comparison of features from Marantz site.
Both support 3d and are DLNA compliant... necessity of 4k depends on how long you normally keep your equipment or if you don't mind upgrading when the time comes.
