Sorry to start a new thread about what I am sure is a fairly simple problem, but I'm having trouble setting up an Denon 1513 for my parents. They have a fairly simple setup: only the tv, my ps3, and a sony dvd player. The dvd player doesn't have an hdmi option, so I am using rca connectors to hookup the dvd player to the receiver. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. The ps3 is working fine with audio and video through hdmi, but the dvd player input is only playing audio. I have been trying to use Batpig's tutorial, but when I get to the input assign stage, I don't have the option of following his instructions. Under input assign, my only options are:
Optical: DVD, TV/Audio, CBL/SAT, Game, Aux, Off, Blu-Ray
Coaxial: (same options)
Default

On the back of the receiver, I have the red and white cables plugged into the "Audio In" and the yellow cable into the "Video In" DVD.

Thank you so much for any help!

HDMI and analog inputs are NOT assignable on the 1513 so in connecting the DVD player you must connect the yellow video and red/white audio cables all to the same source name using one of only two choices, either DVD or CBL/SAT. Also as there is no analog--> HDMI conversion on the 1513, you must also connect a yellow RCA from the analog monitor out to the TV as well. If the DVD video is not working, as the manual notes, it's possible that it's incompatible with the AVR. Why are you using the DVD player at all? The PS3 can play DVDs.

Also note there is a dedicated thread just for Denon AVR-XX13 questions linked in my sig. Review posts #3-6 in that thread for more helpful information.

Thanks for the reply. I'll bring this question over to the Denon Owners Thread. I have to use the DVD player because I bought the PS3 in Korea. The regions don't match for DVDs.

Or buy a new blu ray player. That will have HDMI out. I bought two Panasonic BD220's for $79 each recently. That's pretty darn cheap.

What? The lowest quality connections concerning audio and video and thats what you use? Do you not like your parents?

Doesn't really have a choice if his DVD player doesn't have HDMI for video.

The Denon AVR 1513 doesn't have component video inputs. Hence the reason I suggested he just get a new Blu Ray player for cheap.

Yeah, I don't have many options here. I picked up the 1513 because I really only need to hook up two bookshelf speakers for them. They are both starting to lose their hearing and the tv speakers aren't cutting it. I'm thinking that picking up a cheap blu-ray player is probably the best option for them. Thanks for the help and for the recommendation!
