Hi All:

I was offered a good deal on a new clearance Denon 3312. I realize this is almost a full two years old now though. I started looking at the model really hard and I do see it is "missing some dolby and DTS decoders...

Like Dolby IIZ, DTS 96/24, DTS ES Discrete/Matrix and DTS Neo:6.

I tried to do some research on them... Like I know Dolby IIZ is for front height channels on a 7.1 or 7.2 system...although it seems most people only use front height if they go for a 9.1 or 9.2 system...and go with another set of rear speakers for 7.1 / 7.2?

I am honestly confused. For $500 bucks the Denon seems like a good deal... Any help is MUCH appreciated.

The 3312 as well as the other 7.1 Denon models have all those surround modes.

You sure? I saw in a post a comparison of the 3312 vs 3313 and it showed it did not have Dolby IIZ, DTS 96/24, DTS ES Discrete/Matrix and DTS Neo:6. Was there firmware upgrades that gave it these capabilities?

Hmm, 1st link in Google that came up after I typed "Denon 3312 features". Go figure.

1. I have the 3312: it has all these.
2. If you don't believe me, jds is an 'authority' on Denon, so trust him.
3. If still in doubt, download the manual from Denon's website and see for yourself, it's all listed clearly on p.55
4. DPLIIz is not a decoder.

Audiosceptics accept audio trials using 25 people. A recent Oxford study with over 353,000 patient records from 639 separate clinical trials shows for every 1,000 people taking diclofenac or ibuprofen there would be 3 additional heart attacks, 4 more cases of heart failure and 1 death every year.

DD PLIIz has been on the mid/lower level models (to include the 3312 and 3313's predecessor 3310) for the past 4 years and has been on every Denon 7.1 AVR since that time while the other modes have been featured for almost the past 10 years. Whatever post you're reading is mistaken. smile.gif
