For music which would sound better? I got a chance to pick one of these up used, both are going for about 1k..........

It's currently higher right now but the 7005 goes on sale occasionally on amazon for 1K. New w/ 3 year warranty..

I own the 7005. Can't compare it to the Mac since I've never had any experience with it.. The 7005 is a fine receiver though. No complaints.

If you are looking for sound quality the Mcintosh wins. If you are looking for the best deal that is up to you to decide. If you want great two channel music maybe you should think about seperates. A Mcintosh MC352 paired with an older refurbished Mcintosh pre-amp, maybe a MciIntosh C40, would be ideal. You can pair a Mcintosh amp with any pre-amp and you will be impressed at the sound quality you receive.
