I've got a Sony STR-SE391 receiver that came out of an old HTIAB system ( Specs 435k .pdf file ) that I'm using for part of my whole-house audio system. It's powering 2x NHT Absolute Zero's on the A channel and 2x NHT Classic Two's on the B channel. I'm not blasting the music and it seems to be working reasonably well. Is there any reason for me to be replacing this unit with something like a Sherwood RX-4109? If so, what would I be getting out of it?

The unit does seem like a space heater, but I am turning it off when it's not in use.

Relevant specs from the PDF:

8 ohms at 40 Hz - 20 kHz
less than 0.5% total
harmonic distortion
100 W + 100 W
Attached Files
File Type: pdf Pages from STRSE391.pdf (434.7 KB, 0 views)

Sounds like you are just using it for audio.. No reason to change unless you want to go home theater. Then, I would go with something better: Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, NAD, etc

If you need to add rooms or zones, you could just add a separate amp.

My sources are all stereo, so no need to go all HT. Thanks -- just making sure I'm not missing out on something new in the stereo (2.0) space.
