Just got this receiver a few weeks ago along with a blue ray DVD player and was watching batman last night and it shows PCM on the receiver. Is that normal and Is there a way to change it to Dolby pro logic and if so is that a better option?
Tanks!

You don't want Dolby Pro Logic if you're watch blu ray. You want TrueHD or DTS-MA.

Sounds like your blu ray player isn't setup properly. What model is it? The receiver just decodes whatever signal it is being sent.

And which Batman movie are you referring to? There are several. I know the Dark Knight (the one with the Joker) doesn't automatically default to TrueHD, you have to select it from the audio menu.

Are you watching the blu ray movie or a DVD movie?

^^^ +1

Hi SF FAN, hopefully you have connected the bluray player to receiver with HDMI cable and not RCA (yellow, white, red) cables. As afrogt posted, the bluray audio output is not set up properly for HD audio for BD viewing. Go into bluray player audio menu and set the HDMI Audio Out as "Bitstream" and Secondary Audio as "Off".

What model blu ray player do you have?

Like JChin said you most likely need to set the player to BITSTREAM and the secondary audio to OFF
