My old yamaha+polk m60s+polk cs2+energy 8 inch sub+polk m30s were underpowered and sounded muddled.

To get over that I had to run in '7 speaker enhanced mode' to hear anything.

I've upgraded to Polk RTi A5 speakers, klipch 12 inch sub, CSiA6, and have refreshed the yamaha an extra 5-10 watts.

Sounds awesome now.

I'm wondering what audio modes you guys use for music, TV shows, and for movies.

For most movies I use "straight" mode.

However, for DVDs that don't have a decent surround mix, I sometimes use "movie - spectacle". I also use "sports" when watching football.

I don't do much critical listening for music, so I usually use seven channel stereo.

Thanks.

Last night I came to the conclusion that each TV show has its own settings.

I mean I watched Greys Anatomy and between all of the mumbling and background music... it seemed 'Pro mode: Standard' smoothed out everything the best.
Who'da thunk standard would be useful?

Guess all of the modes must have their purpose.

Hopefully the GF ignores me fiddling with audio modes the first 12 minutes of each show.
