That may be the hardest to set up but easiest to use. If you have an ios or android device you could also use finger eq.

Yeah I've got an ipod touch. I'll have to check that out. Seems strange you can adjust the equalization on the fly for multichannel audio using an ipod app, but not have a simple bass/treble control on remote.

You can also just increase the subwoofer channel level on the remote.

That might be the easiest, if the results are good.

Does this receiver have an OSD display for volume? Mine just arrived and I am using it as a second receiver. I didn't see an OSD option and find it hard to believe that a 2012 receiver with an $1,100 dollar MSRP doesn't have OSD.

Quote:
Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.

Thanks for all the suggestions for getting my wireless to work! It turns out that the solution was was to unplug the router and then it connected. The only weird thing is on my wife's iPad there is sound coming out only through the left front speaker. When I use my iPhone and iPod, I get sound out of all my speakers (using Dolby Pro Logic IIx). Any idea what would be causing this? Thanks again.

Got mine set up. This system has never sounded this good! I made several MCACC presets. That "Finger EQ" in the app works great too. Standby through is nice. I have a Darbee Darblet processor between it and the display. No drop outs. I was a little worried about my Mac Mini getting along with it, no problem.

If I have two sets of Klipsch Quintet Speakers with a Better Center Speaker and Good Sub will I notice much of a difference between a VSX-1121 and SC-1222k or a VSX-1123-K I currently have two displays in my HT a 46" Samsung LCD 1080p TV and Optoma HD33 on a 136" Screen. I have a Monoprice splitter that I seem to have to reset a ton so was thinking of the 1123 to get 2 HDMI Out Sources but if 1222 is going to sound much better I would go with it.

Thoughts?

Well, the new TV STAND is taking longer than I expected to set up. I'm going to stop where I am at, take a shower and head to Fresno to get the SC-1522. I am going to test it out before I return the SC-1222. I will post some pics of both side by side and the back.

Here's a pic of the stand so far not bad for $200 dollars, shipped and no taxes. However, I found a few places where the paint is chipped due to FedEx excellent handling.

Well, I went to Costco located in the North side of Fresno CA, and I bought myself a SC-1522-K, which will be replacing my SC-1222-K. I finally finished hooking everything up and completed the TV Stand as well. I had to re-arrange my cables, and had to remake some of my Cat6 cables due to some being too long and others being too short. I am very happy with both the TV Stand and the SC-1522-K. I'm currently going to download and upgrade the firmware on the 1522. I turned it on, and it works with my Dune D1 and all my other devices biggrin.gif

I will be returning the 1222 to newegg.com tomorrow. Here are some pictures...excuse my mess! I'm sorry about the pictures being so granny. I took them with my phone!

The 1222 is on the left, and the 1522 on the right. They are identical.

Gus - Looks great. Enjoy your new AVR. That is a smokin deal on the 1522. Curious, could you take some pictures of the pioneer 1522 Full-Color On-Screen Graphical User Interface menu. Wondering if the menu has the ability to make changes to all the audio and video settings. Instead of having to look at the front display of the AVR.

Thank you

I can do that. I will have to do it later since the wife has been bugging me about taking her and the kids to the movie to watch The Croons or something like that...rolleyes.gif I can tell you that so far the UI from the 1522 is the same as the 1222. I updated the FW and got my Pandora account signed in. Everything worked perfectly so far. I haven't done the MCACC yet.

I considered returning my Newegg SC-1222 and getting an SC-1522 from Costco but the extra features and a few more watts didn't matter that much to me. Instead I took the extra $100 or so and put it towards an iPad. I really like that iControlAV2012 remote software. Also gained some points around the house. Told my wife "guess what you're getting... an iPad". She'll use it as a browser.

To me the 12v triggers are the feature I really wanted in an AVR since I am going to buy an external amp biggrin.gif The iContronl2012 app looks awesome on the ipad and iphone.

Yeah that feature will come in handy for you. You've got to check out that app. I tried it on my iPod touch. Very nice. It'll be great on an iPad.

If you are going to buy an external amp, keep in mind that many of them have an automatic start, triggered by audio coming in, and you don't need the 12v trigger at all. That's how my Rotel works. Some external amp are also remote controllable.

A few more features, try 9 channel amp versus 7 channel that is more than just a few features for a 100 bucks more.

What is Newegg's return policy? I was thinking of doing the same, return the 1222 to Newegg and pick up the 1522 from Costco but looks like Newegg has a 15% restock fee plus shipping back to them so I would sink about $100 into the change plus the base price difference.

Hate to tell you this Gus but they can charge you a 15% restocking fee according to their return policy. I've seen a few people get bit. Up to them. Hope you get lucky.

Well, I finally finished setting everything up with the exception of the Kinect control thingie that goes on top of the TV mad.gif Two things that I noticed different for the SC-1522 when running the MCACC: 1) It runs a Delay setting for all of the speakers, which I didn't notice with 1222. 2) You have to use the GUI set up screen to turn one "S. Wave." Rather than using the Audio Parameter button from the remote.

For some reason or another Stereo 2.0 Pandora music sounds better, but it might just me a psychological thing rolleyes.gif. I had to re-arrange the front set up due to the TV Stand width being longer. Here are some pics.

Well, when I spoke with the customer service lady she didn't say anything about having a restocking fee since I haven't had it for more than 30 days yet. I'll give them a call tomorrow just to confirm.

Agreed. But from what I am finding out about the current and forthcoming product lines is that Pioneer is not the flexible feature rich manufacturer they use to be. Those two extra channels may be a bonus, but if you are only running 7.1 and like when I first got my 7.1 in 2000 and there was barely any 5.1 fare, although that unit did amazing things with the 5.1 in a 7.1 set up, what can you do with those extra outputs that Pioneer hasn't already decided for us like I am seeing on a lot of the "features" on the 1222? And in talking with Pioneer they seem to think they know better than we do about our personal media needs and the way the world is evolving with these features and flexibility. Which seems to be less and less than I have had from them in the past. So . . . unless they are assignable and can be used, in my case as sub outputs, although I love my little "arc welder" amps, it's not a bonus until they really start coming out with 9.1/2 fare.

I looked at the 1522 before buying the 1222 and at that time the pricing was not as attractive as it is now, but was willing to go that route "if" it was worth it. I didn't see any "worthiness". It looks like that starts happening with the Elite models, which I have a couple and will be buying one to replace this 1222 as soon as they finish releasing the 2013/14 models and we get a good look at what will be available.

I have been a Pioneer fan (did also like Carver and Yamaha) for close to if not over 30 years and now because of all that I am discovering, my eye is wandering to other brands.

The extra 2 channels can be used to power fronts with bi-amp setup. Besides, 1522 support OSD and 1222 doesn't. Something that is very critical if one day you put the receiver in a closet and can't see the display on it.
