Hello everyone I am looking in to adding a home theatre to my living room. Until tonight I was set on purchasing the Yamaha 473 and the energy take 5 classic 5.1. I was trying the keep a budget in mind. I have a moderate living room with a 65"vizio. I went to best buy to browse tonight and found a Yamaha rx-a2010 open box for 499. The issue is it is missing the remote and the microphone. It is. Receiver and a cord. Comes with all same warranties with a great discount. I didn't want to spend any more but feel this is a great opportunity.... So I found microphone on eBay 30 bucks haven't looked for remote. I do have harmony.. Do i take the plunge please help.....

That's a good deal. You should be able to get a remote and microphone from Yamaha as well.

If it was me I'd get the 2010.

Don't know how much better it'd sound with the Take Classics though but I'd still want that receiver.

Actually you get a 3 year warranty with the RX- A series receivers, 2 years with the RX-V.

What is the price on the 473? 2010 has more power and preouts.

2010 has:

More power, bigger power supply and better amp section
7.2 preouts
7.1 multichannel analog inputs
9 amplified channels
dual HDMI outputs
Zone 2 and Zone 3
analog to HDMI video upscaling and processing with HQ Riva
buiit in HD Radio tuner
Multi point YPAO room calibration
phono input

RX-V473 is just a basic 5.1 receiver but does have Apple Airplay if that matters.

You're talking a $1599 MSRP receiver vs a $399 MSRP receiver. They still sell the A2010 on Amazon for $1299.

Have you priced a remote?
If the 2010 is within your budget including the missing items I would go for it!!

Everyone thanks for the help! I considered everything you guys said! I bought it and waiting for my speakers .i already ordered the microphone and will use my harmony for the remote.... So my wife tossed me a curveball... Now she says she doesn't want the rear surrounds on the ceiling so I have to go in ceiling style... I think I am going to go with a pair of Polk RC60i. And put my other take 5 classics out side in the patio for zone 2. I was thinking RC80 but thing they are to big.. Suggestions.

Hi mike
I bought he Yamaha rx a2010 a few months ago at best buy almost the same deal as you. First off this is a great receiver. The sound is incredible, I am coming from an onkyo TX NR 807 that had several HDMI boards replaced over two years. I also have the harmony one, you may need the original Yamaha remote to learn some commands. It worked when I first set up the harmony, but was missing some important commands.. If you go to remotes..com they have it now for $139 much more then the $99 I paid at the time. The Yamaha remote is big has a ton of buttons and comes in handy from time to time..
I see this may be taking you over your budget, but like myself... We SCORED on this receiver. Make the extra small investment and you will be very satisfied.
You may want to look at the mini remote that came with it I think it was 10 bucks more.. Even look at the a3010 remote which is back lite.. Good luck
