Hi I am new to the forum and just recently bought the Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 system but I am still undecided about what receiver to buy. I narrowed it down to the denon AVR-2113 or the avr-1713. Would I see a difference in sound quality from buying the 2113 over the 1713 with these speakers? Also I am not planing to update to a 7.1 system, and I don't care about upscaling since every thing i run is at 1080p, nor do i care about 4k. I only care about sound quality. I will only have the receiver connected to my htpc via hdmi mostly for blu-ray, and some music once in a while. I know the 2113 has 95 wpc compared to 80 wpc from the 1713, will I be able to hear a difference with that? I do like to hear my blu-rays loud so I am not sure if the 1713 will be powerful enough. The room size is 18x12

The extra 15 watts per channel rating will provide an inaudibly slight increase in the maximum volume your system can put out without noticeable distortion. A fraction of a decibel at best.

is that worth the $120 increase of the 2113 vs the 1713?

No.

Howdy Johnscare84 and welcome to AVS,

A couple questions, What is your budget and have you looked at anything other than Denon AVRs?

Just my 2¢ - take it or leave it for others

I would say about $500, but I would like to spend less because I am more into sound quality than into features. I wont be streaming anything nor do I have any apple products. I am justing using it for my htpc with xbmc. I have looked at pioneer and onkyo receivers also, but people have been telling me if you are only looking for sound quality and don't care about features then go with a denon receiver with Audyssey MultEQ XT especially if you are a beginner since it will take care of the sub for me. Plus 2 year warranty is a plus.

If you only need 5.1, then the 1713 has the same Audyssey MultEQ XT as does the 2113CI and so the 1713 should serve you very well.
